Franz Sinabell

Dr. Franz Sinabell is a Senior Economist & Research Group Coordinator at Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung.
He has been working in the Research Group "Environment, Agriculture and Energy" since 2002.
He works in the fields of agricultural and food policy, environmental and resource economics, and risk management.
From 2008 to 2012 he was Deputy Director of WIFO.
He lectures at the University of Vienna and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.
He is an expert advising the Commission on the preparation of the annual report on the economic situation of agriculture, and he is a board member of the Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics.
Most recently, he coordinated projects on the economic significance of biomass use in agriculture in Austria and on the future of the forestry and timber industry in Austria.
During his career, he was involved in numerous national and international scientific projects.
In numerous instances, he was the project coordinator.
He has conducted studies on rural development issues for the OECD, the European Commission, and national agencies.
He was the scientific coordinator of several studies on the impact of rural development programs in Austria.
