Mr. Eric W.
Doppstadt, CFA, is a Vice President & Chief Investment Officer at Ford Foundation.
He has over 22 years’ experience in endowment investment management.
He is responsible for managing the Foundation’s $12.7 billion endowment, where he leads a team of fifteen professionals.
Before assuming his current position on June 1, 2009, he spent fifteen years in a number of alternative investment roles at the Foundation, including nine years managing the Foundation’s investments in venture capital, private equity, distressed investments, and hedge funds.
Mr. Doppstadt was previously employed as an Independent Director by Arch Capital Group Ltd. and an Advisory Board Member by Flexpoint Ford LLC.
Prior to joining the Foundation, he spent five years practicing corporate law with the firm of Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison.
He is a Director and member of the Finance & Investment Committee of Arch Capital Group, Ltd., a Bermuda-based company that provides specialty insurance and reinsurance on a worldwide basis through its wholly-owned subsidiaries.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Makena Capital Management, LLC, which manages multi-asset class investment portfolios on behalf of a global client base of endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and families.
He received his undergraduate degree with Honors from The University of Chicago, studied international economics at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service on a fellowship from The Fund for American Studies, and received a law degree from NYU School of Law, where he was Articles Editor of the NYU Annual Survey of American Law.
He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute.
