Profile

In addition to his role with Tall Oaks, Dr. Brautigan has been Director of the Center for Cell Signaling and a Professor of Microbiology and Medicine with the University of Virginia School of Medicine since 1994.
Prior to his tenure at UVA, he was a Professor of Medical Science at Brown University in Rhode Island for eight years and served as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington where he was also a Research Fellow in the laboratory of Edmond H.
Fischer, Ph.D.
Dr. Brautigan has served on multiple boards and committees at the University of Virginia and related community Boards to encourage best practices in research and development, technology transfer and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Brautigan has over 160 peer-reviewed publications and manages multiple grants to study the mechanisms of action involved with protein phosphatases.
The results of his studies are expected to help understanding of cell adhesion and migration, smooth muscle contractility, morphogenesis during development and how defects in these processes lead to human diseases.
