Seligman manages portfolios employing a team approach. Each investment team leader is a Managing Director. Their investment teams conduct primary research on all securities considered for inclusion in their portfolios. Their research on potential stock purchases includes on-site visits and one-on-one meetings with management to assess the quality, prospects and direction of a company. Seligman takes the following steps to address investment risk in the portfolios: minimal-to-no cash positions, fundamental research, close management contact and continuous evaluation of their holdings. Their analysts are organized by industry specializations. The investment decision-making process is overseen by the CIO and implemented by each team leader.

Fort Washington applies well-defined investment values across the diverse lineup of strategies that they offer covering asset classes and solutions within both public and private equity, cash and short duration fixed income, investment grade fixed income, asset-liability management, leveraged credit, multi-sector fixed income, private placements, private debt, midstream energy, securitized credit, and others.

NBBD-IM offers clients investment solutions across asset classes, styles, capitalizations and geographies in both public and private markets, as well as multi-asset class solutions that bring them all together. For equity investments, the firm tends to focus on stocks with solid balance sheets, relatively low price-to-earnings ratios, low price-to-cash flow ratios, strong cash flows, above-average yields, sustainable earnings growth, reasonable valuation multiples relative to growth prospects, sound franchise values and significant insider ownership. They use both top-down and bottom-up analysis to select investments. In addition, the firm uses options and futures and occasionally invests in ADRs and private equity opportunities.
