Meadowbrook Capital focuses on asset allocation and seeks uncorrelated returns in volitile markets. The firm manages two funds. The Meadowbrook Beta Neutral Fund is a long/short, all-cap hedge fund. The Meadowbrook Opportunity Fund is a micro-cap hedge that employs a bottom-up strategy. Meadowbrook's investment process begins with a bottom-up, quantitative model. After the modelling process, they apply intensive fundamental and qualitative reseaarch prior to making any investment. In their long investments, Meadowbrook looks for high-margin businesses with incremental operating margins. Their focus mainy on the medical devices, health care, technology and software sectors but they do invest also in oil exploration/production and gold mining companies. In their short portfolio, Meadowbrook invests in companies with deteriorating top-line revenue, commoditised products, falling return equities, increased competition and high valuation. Their process begins with the calculation of a custom beta for each investment. After analyzing the risk/reward for each holding, they monitor the liquidity and determine the size of the position. Finally, Meadowbrook allocates assets by neutralising the customised beta of each investment. If a position trades two standard deviations lower than its cost, Meadowbrook reviews and/or exits the position. They also actively manage gross and net market exposure and hedge risk by using options.
