Wheaton Precious Metals plans to promote a senior executive to president, a role long held by its chief executive.

The Canadian company said Wednesday it will appoint Haytham Hodaly, senior vice president of corporate development, to president on June 30.

Chief Executive Randy Smallwood has been president since 2010, a year before he was named CEO. Hodaly joined Wheaton in 2012.

Wheaton also said that Curt Bernardi, senior vice president of legal and strategic development, will be promoted to general counsel on June 30.
