Volkswagen increased its car sales in the first half of the year, according to a recent report.
In total, 2.32 million vehicles of the Volkswagen core brand were sold, marking a 4.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the "Handelsblatt" reported on Wednesday. Global sales of electric vehicles rose by 14.3 percent to approximately 193,000 units. This growth was primarily driven by a significant surge in Europe, where sales of such vehicles climbed by 70 percent. In contrast, fewer electric and hybrid vehicles were sold in China and the United States, according to VW sales chief Martin Sander.
The Volkswagen Group is set to release its delivery figures for the first half of the year later in the morning. These figures will include not only the VW brand, but also data for other group brands such as Audi and Skoda.
