In other Spanish regions, such as Andalusia in the south and Aragon in the northeast, temperatures rose again to over 40 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, a national heat record for a June day was set in the southern Spanish city of El Granado on the border with Portugal, with temperatures reaching 46 degrees Celsius. Even at night, it remained unbearably hot in many places, with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius.
According to the state weather service Aemet, the heatwave could continue until Wednesday. From Thursday, people could then hope for slightly cooler temperatures. /ro/DP/stw
