Spie Global Services Energy, a subsidiary of Spie, announces that its high-voltage wind energy division, Correll, has signed a contract with Jan De Nul, a world leader in marine construction.

Correll will be responsible for connecting and testing the interconnection cables for the 72 wind turbines of the Thor offshore wind farm built by RWE.

This involves the production and installation of 60 kilometers of export cables along the 30 kilometers separating the offshore wind farm from the coast, and around 200 kilometers of 'inter-array' cables between the wind turbines.

Offshore installation and commissioning of all cables is scheduled for 2025.

Once the project is completed in 2027, this 1 GW-plus wind farm will become Denmark's largest offshore wind farm. It will be capable of producing enough green electricity to power the equivalent of more than one million Danish homes.

Gianluca Petraccia, Director of the 'Wind Power' operating division at Spie Global Services Energy, said: 'This project, scheduled for completion in 2025, will play a key role in the transition to low-carbon energy sources. '
