The gaming entertainment company MTG acquires the game studio Plarium Global for USD 620 million, equivalent to SEK 6.7 billion, according to a press release.

Plarium is known for the popular RPG game RAID: Shadow Legends. The company had in the last 12-month period (until the end of September), revenues of $ 613 million, an adjusted ebitda of $ 137 million and a free cash flow of $ 110 million.

"Plarium brings with it an exciting and highly successful portfolio of live games headlined by RAID: Shadow Legends, an exceptional evergreen mid-core IP. The studio also has three additional strong live games and an exciting pipeline of new games in both the mid-core and casual segments, creating good opportunities for future growth," said MTG CEO Maria Redin.

"Plarium also has industry-leading user acquisition and monetization tools. These tools will complement our Flow platform and enhance the performance of some of our existing live titles", Redin continues.

The transaction is being financed with existing cash and a combination of term loans and revolving credit facilities.

Of the $620 million to be paid, $20 million is deferred until 2026. Further, it is stated that the purchase price will be balanced against the cash flow generated between the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2024 and the closing of the transaction, which is expected to occur in the first quarter of 2025.
