Meridian Energy Limited announced on 19 July 2021, the Electricity Authority has granted an exemption under the Electricity Industry Act 2010 in relation to the appointment of Tania Simpson as a non-executive director to the Meridian Board. Accordingly, Meridian advises that Ms Simpson will be appointed as a non-executive director of Meridian effective from the date the exemption is notified in the New Zealand Gazette.
