FreshRealm recalled some chicken fettuccine alfredo products sold at Walmart and Kroger as health officials investigate a listeria outbreak.
The recall includes FreshRealm's Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine 12.3 oz, Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine 32.8 oz and Home Chef Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo 12.5 oz., the Agriculture Department said Tuesday.
The department's Food Safety and Inspection Service is investigating an outbreak that currently includes 17 ill people. As of Tuesday, there were three reported deaths and one fetal loss associated with the outbreak, FSIS said.
The outbreak strain was isolated from a routine sample collected by FSIS in a FreshRealm establishment in March. FSIS said subsequent investigations haven't identified the source of contamination. FSIS said it used records from two ill people to trace purchased products to FreshRealm establishments.
Lancaster, Texas-based FreshRealm said the recalled items haven't been established as a cause of any of the listeria cases.
According to a Kroger recall notice, the products were sold at the Kroger chain and some other Kroger Co. stores, including Fred Meyer and Ralphs.
FreshRealm reported a $200 million capital raise in 2022. In 2023, FreshRealm bought Blue Apron's operational infrastructure assets in a transaction valued at up to $50 million, and it bought some Marley Spoon assets in 2024.
