General Motors is adding senior vice president of global manufacturing to the responsibilities of Mike Trevorrow, effective immediately, the company said June 6. Trevorrow takes over the top position held by former Tesla executive JP Clausen, who resigned as GM's head of manufacturing operations exactly one year into the job. Trevorrow retains his responsibilities as vice president of global manufacturing engineering, and the expanded role places him in charge of more than 95,000 GM employees across 110 locations in 11 countries on four continents, the Detroit automaker said in a news release. Trevorrow held a variety of leadership positions in GM manufacturing before moving to a role in Japan.

In 2013, he was promoted to executive director, global body, in manufacturing engineering, among other positions. GM appointed Trevorrow vice president of North American manufacturing in 2023, advancing into his global manufacturing engineering position in early 2024. Trevorrow assumes the top manufacturing role at a difficult time for U.S. carmakers.
