Entergy Texas, Inc. (Entergy Texas) is a public utility company engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electric energy to over 417,000 customers in the state of Texas. It owns a gas storage facility that provides natural gas service to certain generating stations. Entergy Texas owns all Entergy Gulf States, Inc. distribution and transmission assets located in Texas, the gas-fired generating plants located in Texas, undivided 42.5% ownership shares of Entergy Gulf States, Inc.'s 70% ownership interest in Nelson 6 and 42% ownership interest in Big Cajun 2, Unit 3, which are coal-fired generating plants located in Louisiana, and other assets and contract rights to the extent related to utility operations in Texas. It owns over 433,560 utility distribution poles, over 28,150 transmission poles, over 13,190 circuit miles of distribution lines, over 2,750 circuit miles of transmission lines and over 335 substations. It is a subsidiary of Entergy Corporation.
