(Alliance News) – Plenitude, a company controlled by Eni Spa, announced on Thursday the start of work on the creation of an Energy Community in partnership with Nuova Simplast, a firm specializing in rotational molding and assembly of plastic components, in Montà d'Alba.

The project forms part of Plenitude's strategy to develop sustainable energy models based on Renewable Energy Communities, Collective Self-Consumption, and Remote Individual Self-Consumption. Specifically, the initiative with Nuova Simplast will be implemented under the Remote Individual Self-Consumption (AID) configuration.

The plan calls for the installation of a 758 kWp photovoltaic plant on an unused industrial plot adjacent to Nuova Simplast's headquarters. The plant is expected to generate approximately 860 MWh of energy annually, which will be virtually shared with five of the company's supply points located nearby.

Thanks to the AID mechanism – which enables the self-consumption of renewable energy produced at a site different from the point of use – Nuova Simplast will be able to optimize its energy consumption without structural constraints on its buildings.

The project will also allow the company to access the twenty-year incentives provided for energy communities, part of which, as required by regulations, will be allocated to funding social initiatives in the local area.

Plenitude will provide technical and operational support throughout all phases of the project, including management through the "Plenitude Comunità Energetiche" platform, dedicated to monitoring the AID configuration.

Eni shares are up 0.3% at EUR14.30 per share.
