(Alliance News) - Eni Spa announced on Friday that it has signed a head of terms agreement with Khazna Data Centers to create a joint venture aimed at developing an "AI Data Center Campus" with a total IT capacity of 500 MW at the Ferrera Erbognone site in Lombardy.

The project is part of the strategic collaboration between Italy and the United Arab Emirates launched in February, with the aim of reaching up to 1 GW of IT capacity in Italy.

The Campus will be designed with scalable, high-performance, energy-efficient infrastructure and will be powered by Eni's "Blue Power," a low-emission electricity source generated by a new high-efficiency natural gas power plant with CO2 capture and storage at the Ravenna CCS hub.

The agreement was signed by Guido Brusco, Eni's chief operating officer global natural resources and general manager, and Hassan Alnaqbi, CEO of Khazna, in the presence of the Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Reem Al Hashimi, and the Italian Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.

"With this partnership, Eni and Khazna are contributing to the creation of a world-class hyperscale infrastructure that is strategic for Italy and Europe, providing their distinctive capabilities in innovation, energy sustainability, and rapid time-to-market," said Eni's general manager.

Eni's stock is down 0.6% to EUR14.196 per share.
