BAE Systems has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hanwha Systems to develop a multi-sensor satellite solution for international markets.

The partnership aims to combine BAE Systems' ultra-wideband radio frequency (RF) sensors with Hanwha Systems' space expertise in next-generation synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to create an advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capability.

BAE Systems plans to launch its first Azalea TM constellation in low Earth orbit as early as 2025 to enhance threat detection capabilities in and from space.

Rachael Hoyle, Director of Space at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, said the partnership represents an exciting opportunity to advance ISR capabilities from space.

Sung-Chan Song, head of Hanwha Systems' space division, said that Small SAR satellites are increasingly recognized as invaluable resources for surveillance and reconnaissance.
