ABB announces that Seatrium, a global provider of marine engineering solutions based in Singapore, has awarded it a 'major contract' to equip two new FPSO vessels for Petrobras.
These units will be deployed in the Atapu and Sépia fields off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
For the first time, Petrobras is adopting an all-electric concept with 165 MW of capacity based on electric motors and compressors.
The project will also include the first offshore application of ABB's three Is-limiters configuration, designed to effectively control short circuits.
The systems will be manufactured in Singapore and Brazil. Delivery of the eHouses is scheduled for 2027.
The two FPSOs will each have a production capacity of 225,000 barrels per day, ABB said.
