Basis Points A federal appeals court rejected Nasdaq's yearslong push to set racial and gender targets for the boards of its listed companies, dealing a major blow to one of most prominent efforts to promote diversity in corporate America. During Donald Trump's first administration, China learned that it couldn't match the much larger U.S. economy tit-for-tat when it came to tariffs, and quickly found other ways to try to inflict pain -often by borrowing from his playbook. China is poised to roll out an expansion of its nationwide private pension system as the world's second-largest economy faces a rapidly aging population and its public pension fund is running dry. Australia's job market continues to defy a weak economy , with unemployment dropping sharply in November on the back of another solid month of employment growth. The bonds of France's major banks are expected to remain relatively resilient in the face of political and economic uncertainty in the country, helped by the banks' strong credit ratings and substantial presence internationally, analysts said. Turkey's current account remained in the black despite the end of the peak summer tourist season, suggesting the battered economy is stabilizing.
