FRANKFURT/BONN/BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - Verdi is ramping up pressure in collective bargaining negotiations for approximately 9,000 Postbank employees by calling for warning strikes. The union has urged employees of Postbank Filialvertrieb AG nationwide to walk out this Thursday (April 30) and Saturday (May 2). This move is expected to cause disruptions across Postbank branches.

Verdi is demanding an 8 percent pay increase for employees of the Deutsche Bank subsidiary, with a minimum monthly raise of 300 euros. Apprentices are seeking an additional 200 euros. Furthermore, the union aims to secure job and site guarantees, as well as a binding legal right to further training, particularly regarding AI.

Next round of negotiations on May 18

To date, the employer side has only presented an offer 'that reflects neither the economic situation of Deutsche Bank nor the high workload within the operations,' criticized Verdi chief negotiator Jan Duscheck.

The union had signaled warning strikes following the initial round of negotiations on April 15. The next round of talks is scheduled for May 18 in Frankfurt. During the 2024 labor dispute, an agreement was only reached after five rounds, with warning strikes repeatedly causing service disruptions for Postbank customers./ben/DP/stk
