Nippon Steel said it has dropped a federal lawsuit accusing the leaders of Cleveland-Cliffs and the steelworkers' union of conspiring to scuttle its deal for US Steel.
The lawsuit against United Steelworkers President Dave McCall and Cleveland-Cliffs CEO Lourenco Goncalves was filed in January shortly after then-President Joe Biden blocked the $14 billion deal, citing national-security concerns.
The companies also sued Biden, alleging that election-year politics subverted the White House's national security review of the deal.
That case was dismissed after President Trump reversed Biden's block of the deal, which allowed the sale to be completed in June.
Nippon Steel said the union also withdrew an unfair labor practice charge filed against U.S. Steel.
