European markets weighed on by Donald Trump's new tariff offensive
European stockmarkets have slid on Monday mornin,g, after Donald Trump introduced new customs duties on Saturday until a solution is found for the "outright sale of Greenland" to the US. At around 10:30 a.m., the CAC 40 was down 1.41% at 8,142.47 points. The Eurostoxx 50 was off 1.53% at 5,937.44 points. London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam were down 0.36%, 1.17% and 1.11% respectively. On Wall Street, markets in New York will remain closed on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
