Forestry and garden equipment manufacturer Husqvarna has announced its decision to shut down its factory in Brastad. The move is aimed at improving cost efficiency, according to a press release from the company.

All manufacturing currently conducted at the Brastad facility will be outsourced to third parties, a strategy Husqvarna says will enhance flexibility and reduce tied-up capital. The phase-out of production at the site will be gradual, with full closure planned for the first half of 2027.

The annual savings from the closure are expected to reach SEK 100 million, with the full effect realized from 2027 onwards. Costs associated with the shutdown are projected at SEK 140 million. Of this, SEK 20 million will be reported as a one-off item affecting operating profit in the fourth quarter of 2025, while the remaining costs will be recognized in 2026.

The Brastad factory currently employs 84 staff and manufactures components for the group's gasoline-powered engines used in handheld products.
