Empire Company Limited, at the AGM held on September 11, 2025 the shareholders voted Kent R. Sobey to the Board of Directors for the first time. Mr. Sobey has had a distinguished career in the media industry. He is founder and President of Farmhouse Productions Ltd., a television and media production company and serves as a corporate director of Blue Ant Media.

He previously served as a trustee of Crombie REIT for 11 years and on the advisory board of Empire Theatres Limited.

Sobeys owns, affiliates or franchises more than 1,600 stores in all 10 provinces under retail banners that include Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, Farm Boy, Longo's and Lawtons Drugs, operates grocery e-commerce under the banners Voila, Voila par IGA and ThriftyFoods.com, and operates and/or supplies more than 350 retail fuel locations. Investments and other operations segment consists of investments in Crombie REIT, real estate partnerships and various other corporate operations. Crombie REIT is focused on owning, operating and developing a portfolio of grocery and pharmacy-anchored shopping centers, freestanding stores and mixed-use developments primarily in Canada's urban and suburban markets.
